Bit of an adventure today. I went out with the intent of doing more or less the same run as last week, except I would turn on Province Line Rd instead of Quaker, making the run a bit longer. It went well up until I got to the Institute woods. For some reason I decided not to turn onto the trail that I had planned to go on. Instead, I kept going straight, and that got me all confused. I tried rejoining that trail later on, but it just kept looping me around. I ended up at a small suspension bridge at one point, and it seemed like crossing it would get me back where I wanted to go. I tried to run across it, but it threatened to throw me off, plus it was really slippery, so I had to go super slow. Unfortunately, the trail was not maintained on the other side, and I had to cross back again. Later, I ended up at the corner of some farmer's field, and I thought if I went through it, I could get back to the tow path. I didn't realize how big a pain trying to go through waist high grass would be. All I got from that effort was a bunch of scratches from thorn bushes. In the end, I managed to get back to my car, but the amount of time I spent wandering in the woods meant that at least by time, I covered the distance I needed. No idea if it's super precise, but it's good enough for me.
