DCXII

July 15, 2014 (Night)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 82 when I started, mid 60s by the time I finished, intensely grey sky, storming moving into the distance

Comments:
There came a time around 8:30 at night when the power went out and none of the amplifiers worked, preventing even a hollow body guitar such as mine from being audible. So I talked myself out of more practice and began my run in the eery twilight. I ran past the music building and took a left onto the creatively named road, 300 North and another left putting me at the other end 100 East from where I made my way to the yellow sign. It only got darker and more desolate from there. I felt like was exerting myself but not moving particularly fast into a progressively colder wind; but relative to what? After about 20 minutes the loneliness was killing me. I think the altitude had more of an effect today than yesterday. I'd even venture to say that at sea level, with light, company and my customary nine plus hours of sleep the focused form on the way back would have resulted in a tempo--but that's a lot of qualifications. I am not going to fiddle with mapping things and erring on the lower side. Running back to the other end of 100 East and then circling the surrounding area a few times, slowing down during the last five minutes. Peter Silverman style mountain climbers to 25, 4:30 prone plank, 20 clams per side, 30 squats and 30 backwards lunges.
