July 27, 2014 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 70s- 80, a bit humid
Comments:
Woke up at 0500 just trashed - there was NO way I was running any of the marathon.
Instead, I slept 'til about 8:30, got up, started laundry, did some strength work, then finally hit the road after 10.
I did the same thing I did two weeks ago, this weekend:
- Friday long, hard(ish) trail run
- Saturday trail work "cross-train"
- Sunday road tempo
Only this time I shortened it a bit. Rather than run all the way to Dorris, I turned back at 9.5 miles or so, then did a good 6+ miles at tempo back to Alton Baker.
I think I felt better - and ran faster - but the watch was being a bitch. All the splits were from 6:00 to 6:20. I "tested" my first one and it was 3% (10s) short, so all those splits were at least 3% off (and I'm guessing 5+%).
Felt surprisingly good, and it was good form focus on the "Big Four":
- Hinge
- Lumbar arch
- "PULL" (&flick)
- Arms
Felt pretty strong despite being tired.
The rest of the day was good: myriad of convos: with Kaci, a long 2:22 fest with some GOOD chats and background - she is SO special! Then I caught up with my sis, who told me my bro Steve broke up with his GF.
At 6PM, I hustled over to Dan-o's for a post-vacation bash he and Courtney put on. It was fun to catch up with him, and the Hunters in attendance, a few of whom ran the marathon. After that, I headed home, but not before grabbing some donuts at Voodoo!
I'd just polished them off and was ready for a carb coma when Steve called. We talked for about an hour, and that was good.
Good day.
