Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 85, SUPER-humid
Comments:
Another great night and morning. We laid around for a while - and were very affectionate (but still nothing more than holding one another and kissing, nothing beyond "first base), and that rocked.
We got up, same as Saturday: tea on the deck, just relaxing. But we had some work to do. Koop had her doing her first workout, post-WS: "VO2Max" work of 6x3min with equal rest.
We'd be running around the lake path by her house, which she was really excited to show me. I was dreading it, inside, because I KNEW I'd struggle.
I could TELL we were running easy - my legs felt OK - but it simply felt like altitude! We ran about a mile to this reservoir, which was teeming with people, and began our loop around. We'd only run for about two miles before starting the intervals.
They were...not too bad, at first, but I struggled to fully recover, then adjust to the harder effort. The 4th and 5th were rough, then I rallied for a good one on the 6th, pushing her a bit.
But on the cooldown? Now 4+miles from home? I was HURTING. I simply could barely breathe. I wished we'd slowed down, but it wouldn't have helped. It just HURT. I told her so, and she neither scoffed at me, nor slowed down much! That was interesting! So I ground along with her, hanging in there best I could! It was a little demoralizing (but not quite emasculating) to feel that shitty, but damn, that was a legit asthma attack. Eek.
But it was good to get it in, and she LOVED having me there to help her with those intervals!
After the run we cleaned up and I mostly packed up. We held each other in the kitchen, talking about what we wanted to do: go get something to eat before the airport? But neither one of us, deep down, wanted to go anywhere where we could NOT be affectionate. Finally she said, "Come sit down, I want to give you a back massage!"
WOW. She...rocks. So she did, then I did for her, and we laid there together. It was...awesome. That's when she dropped the bomb, "I've never cuddled with a man before...". WOW. A special moment, and a special weekend!
She finally dropped me off at the airport at 2:30. It was tough to leave, but I really felt at peace. What a terrific weekend!
Flights and drive home were good - we chatted on the drive and decided that...yeah, we're...dating! But we're gonna keep things a little under the radar for now.
