Rail Trail Tempo

Actually looking forward to the tempo today. There is a Homecoming 5k on campus in September that I want to do, so it would be nice to get in shape for that. Did the usual warm up to the track, but the football team was practicing. Got to find out when their practice times are so I can use the track. Kept going down Rt 9 to the bike path. Used the mile markers to map out my distance. Figured an out and back for 1.5 miles would be a nice improvement from last week. Also wanted to be a little cautious since the bike path is a lot harder than the track.

Did some warm up drills. Path was pretty empty so I had my space. Started out at a good pace headed towards Hadley. The path is so straight it feels cool to run along it at a faster pace. Couldnt quite figure out the mile markers (I get it now...) so I went a little past the turn around. The way back was uphill and I noticed my pace feeling a little more strenuous. Also I could tell this was half a mile longer than the last tempo. Still held a good pace and good form though and finished strongly. 148 HR at the end is pretty low though. Still it felt strong and fast. Walked it out a little then did a cool down back home on the path and an add on on Memorial Dr. Legs so heavy and exhausted when I returned home. Not necessarily from the asphalt, might be more from soccer yesterday. My back was bruised this morning, but it felt fine running. Also I was completely saturated in sweat when I got back. Humidity makes it brutal.

Essentials: Stretch

Good stretch while trying to cool down. Didnt work that well still just sat there in a pool of sweat. Also, I was out of Vitamin Waters :(. Its so humid and hot out that I was still sweating after my shower. I cant wait for the crisp fall weather.
