First meet of the Season! After arriving and setting up for a while Elijah and I got restless so we ran the practice field a couple times. Then we ran most of the course at an easy warm-up pace. After that we stretched some and got pumped. The start was fast, like always and I was still behind at least half the field. I got caught up a little in that anyway and got boxed in a couple times but after about half way I had plenty of space. I felt pretty good but because of the quick start (first mile was in the 5:20s) I was tired early on. I slowly gained on people and passed all the way until probably 2 miles in then I dodn't think I moved up anymore. I ran with a kid in orange (Chittenango maybe) for a long time until he went with someone else who passed us. With about half a mile less Coach told me I was in 11th which was extremely disappointing because I knew I didn't have enough left to speed up and catch anyone. The 2 mile was in the 11:25-11:35 range. When I got to the final stretch I could barely even kick I was so tired but I pr'd by a lot. Maybe not quite as much as I was hoping but I'm still happy with it. Our team came in 4th again but only top 3 this year got a trophy. We were so close too, only 11 points off 3rd. Still a great day overall. Afterward Elijah, Dakota, Nate and I ran the entire course very slowly, stopping to cheer several times as a cooldown.
