Fartlek @ Pratt

October 1, 2014 (Night)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Ate dinner when I got home then digested, which lead into a night run. It was cool and rainy today. At night though it was a little nicer. Batteries in my head lamp died, and its a good thing I realized that before I headed out. Didnt really know what I wanted to do today. Went up to the track, and realized it was open and decided I wanted to do a workout. There was another couple walking laps in the dark so I knew it was open. Ran down to the Rail Trail opening and then looped back for my warm up. Legs felt pretty good starting out.

Jumped right into the workout, a 1 min on 1 min off fartlek. It has been a while since I did a fartlek and it was fun. Counted laps instead of intervals. The fast parts were pretty fast, like a strider trying to open it up and get my leg speed going. I took an easier jog on the slow, but it wasnt recovery pace I tried to go a little faster than that. On the last one I kept going around to make it almost a quarter, jumping over the water pit. Felt refreshing to speed in the darkness, and the workout was over real quick. Did 7 reps.

Cooled down out of the track, and then added on on the golf course driveway, since I think I can run there at night without getting yelled at. Right hammy was pretty tight on the way back. Tighter than any other muscle has felt in a while. Havnt been working hard enough to hurt something in a while.

Essentials: Stretch, stick roller

Stretch and stick roller in the living room when I got back. It was pretty dark and late out but I am happy I went out to get something in. I wish I had a better story to tell today, but it was a pretty standard run. Hammy still feeling tight keep an eye on it tomorrow. I was going to go to the gym to bike and lift tomorrow night anyways. I wish I had some STEM and heat though. Now all I have is some sleeves and an advanced knowledge base of exercise science routines for running injuries. Its hard to remember that I used to feel like this all the time.
