Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Humid in PG county sportsplex

Comments:
I felt as though Anthony had put down our whole team and had been in a terrible mood throughout practice Tuesday. I needed to remind myself that I loved this sport and that no matter what happened, I would not get too frustrated--Sahil says I constantly write this phrase. Coach and I had planned for me to go out with fastest group, whatever that meant. But after all the agonizing waiting, most of the field (three Gonzagas and lots public schoolers) had already run the mile. We started out rather gently, but I was focused enough to run right in the pack with Zeke and Aidan. If I was going to let them go, it would not be before the mile mark. We went round and round, jostling and spiking each other a bit, then there appeared that little space in between Zeke, Aidan, Floam and me; I was not going to get negative, but made some effort to push the next laps (mile ~5:15) and battled with the one of the gonzaga kids, Harry Monroe, trading back and forth thinking I had finally lost him with 400m to go, but saw him in front again, passed him then he passed me in the last 90m. I had just time enough to cooldown for the 800m, in which I was in the third of four heats and finished third. I let others go out too fast and passed two people in the third lap; don't have any splits for this. On the whole pleased with the negative split in the 32, but still wanting more. I was more angry about this, but received counsel from coach and am now not so worried about the spring.
