Baldy repeats with C.A.

February 25, 2015 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: mid-50s, nearly sunny

Comments:
Hill repeat day with Callie Alice. Still not 100% in the achilles but I figured, hey, F-it, I NEED to get the work in, to get a chance to race GW or even Sonoma. So I'm picking my battles...

Had a patient pool therapy session in the AM, but was dismayed by the soreness just doing easy stuff with her. Met CA near the pool to start the session.

Sore on the way to the hill, not too bad during the repeats, then REALLY sore on the way back. Ugh. BUT, I did realize that I've been WAY over-extending in my back...so A LOT of the soreness MAY actually be nerve-related. So I ran through it.

Repeats felt GREAT. The HR was high because of dry+stagnant+pollen-y air. Very little effort and was constantly dialing it back.

C.A. was pushing the repeats and finished 3-4sec ahead of me on 2-3. I noticed she tends to round in her mid-back and drop her hands on climbs. I mentioned it to her, mid-workout, and...well, it was too much. She was almost in tears at the top, overwhelmed by what she thought was "too high of a heart rate" and "I can't breathe" and "there's too much to think about". She's still dealing with her old leg injury (also nerve tension, I think), and it IS a lot to deal with. I spent some time putting out the fires *I'd* started in her head, then we jogged down to the truck(s).

Good run! She's crazy-fit, which is the funny thing. She just has to believe and execute.
