March 3, 2015 (Afternoon)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: nearly 60, nice
Comments:
I felt pretty encouraged this morning: after Sunday's big up and down (but a lot of soreness), I felt great yesterday, with next to no sympptoms today. I figured I'd try another tempo run today.
Taped the feet again, also wearing orthotics (in the N2s). I did some stretching and light ball massage, but nothing big.
Ran easy from work to the adidas loop, stopping once to stretch. I felt it *a little*, but not bad.
It's been crazy-nice here all week, so the allergens have been a little up, since things are beginning to bloom. The HR was high on the warm-up, but the job was the same: 170-max HR.
Did 4-5 strides, working on lumbar stability, forward trunk, strong arms, and getting a good (straight) pull with the feet and big toes.
Ditched the shirt at the half-mile mark, and got after it.
Felt pretty good...but I could definitely feel both the tight lungs and TIGHT quads! It's nuts how trashed my quads have been. This evening, I catastrophized and thought, maybe it's nerve-related - as it has been with my glutes (post-TNF and post-Bandera, when they got crazy sore for no reason), but I'm not sure.
I thought I was running reasonably fast, but it was slow: 12:18 or so for two miles. :-| The achilles felt pretty OK - some mild soreness into the end of the first lap, but otherwise OK...
...but it was SORE on the cooldown. Damn. Had to stop and walk a few times. UGH. Annoying!
PM: no hunt, due to the achilles...and ALL the damn work I have to do. Writing deadline season is upon me again, AND I have another gait analysis, which I thankfully wrapped up. CA went to Hunt without me, which was good for her.
Overall: lots of stress, knowing I have to tell work I'm quitting at the end of the week. I've been unconsciously cold-shouldering Sean this week...but he continues to be a jackass, so it's self-reinforcing. Overall...a lot of stress boiling beneath the surface.
