March 5, 2015 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run

Didn't sleep all that well: I knew today that I'd have to tell Sean & Rachel that I'm quitting. I wasn't sure how to do it, as my contact with Sean has been MINIMAL for a couple weeks. Thought about just leaving a letter, but that's weak, so at 5:30AM this morning, I figured I would do it first-thing, and actually tell Sean in-person.
So I got up, cleaned up, and got to work by 7AM. I typed out my formal notice, then, with a few minutes before opening patients, I took Sean aside and gave him my notice. He was shocked, and, annoyingly, his usual "super-nice" facade. His initial reaction was, "So are you happy, then?" - a weird, reflexive response to mean, "Are you satisfied with this decision?". I didn't respond in-kind. Instead I said, "I think you would agree that things haven't been working out here". I then told him that my final day wasn't until 4-29, and that I'd like to do anything possible to ensure a smooth transition. His only response was, "I need the morning to think about this", and that was that.
The rest of the AM: treated patients without incident, and a good amount of relief was felt.
Lunch: decided to go for an easy run. Things felt good, so I did some massage and stretch, then taped the feet (over my socks, again), and ran.
Ran the standard 4-mile loop, and felt pretty good! Very little symptoms at all.
Once I returned, I did an additional 40 minutes of powerhiking: 15% grade, about 3.8mph. I was TRASHED: the combination of the tempo, then pool, then run, then powerhike does a number on the legs! Ate lunch after that.
Right before afternoon patients, Rachel asked to talk to me. We walked into a treatment room and, before we even sat down, she said, "So how long have you and JEFF been planning this?". Huh. Somehow she found out; no idea how she knew I was going back to EPT, as I didn't tell them.
"Sean's upset", she said, and, when I asked if I'll be able to work out my notice, she said, "I'm not sure". She then asked me to do two things, both extremely opaque: to "not tell people what we do here", and to not, essentially, talk shit about them? It was so murky, that's all I could ascertain.
SO, that was that...Showered and went back to work.
Saw only two more patients, then left a bit early when CA picked me up. Picked up our rental car, packed up, hit EPT for some paperwork, then hit the road!
PM: drove to Ashland and had beer + pizza at "Creekside", where me and BGD hung out with Timmy, Hal et al that night in Ashland back in '13. Fun times!
