TIRED today.
Had an unexpected meeting with Mac Smith this AM. He strained his back on Monday, so in exchange for breakfast + coffee (+ de facto monthly coaching meeting), he drove here, and I treated him in my apt. After that, we went to Brail's for brunch. Always good to see him, he's a great guy.
After that, I came home to finish the big clean-up I've been doing. Then I got to work on taxes. Around 2ish, I got ready for what I was hoping would be a really long ride: like 100K (CG loop). But as I made my way out there, I just felt gassed.
Did the usual Chambers Hill gut-buster. I thought I'd PR on it, but I was a lackluster 6:08. Then, as I made my way out Lorane, it began to rain. #sufferbetter, I guess. But as I made my way south, it sunk in that it just wasn't my day to punish, so at about 65 minutes, I stopped, ate two-thirds of a Voodoo donut, then turned back.
On the way back, I made the best of the puss-out by doing two additional tempos: up Fox Hollow, then the final push in town, back to my apt.
The tempos:
Chambers: 6:08 - 163
Lorane-to-FH: 3:31 - 161
FH backside: 12:49 - 167
final push: 5:58 - 153
Pretty good ride: 28 minutes of tempo.
PM: ate and read, then went over to the hunt for social. Lewis made us Socials do a shot for St Patty's day. They did a long, grinder run, from what CA told me.
