Opal Creek with CA

March 29, 2015 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: nearly 60, but cool...and nice

Comments:
Another early morning: Callie drove to Gates, and I was double coffee'd again for the final day of class. Today's lectures (on random stuff like snake bites and allergies) was a little dry, but the "practical exams" were pretty good. It was a good experience, as I was the first to solo volunteer to be the 'lead rescuer" in a scenario with an injured actor. Good stuff. Really felt like I learned a lot. AND it was FREE. Thanks, PCTA! Also, the lead instructor asked me if I'd be interested in becoming an instructor, myself! Pretty cool.

CA hung around in the area during class, then picked me up to go running. She found a cool place up in the mountains called Opal Creek - an old mining+logging area. Not a long drive to a nice, pretty easy rolling doubletrack along the creek with numerous falls. Felt good to get in a nice, easy run.

Post-run: drove to Albany and ate+drank at Calapooia Brewing. Pretty solid.

GOOD weekend! Loved to do new stuff!

Also: ZERO achilles symptoms, again. Wore the old red Montrail...whatevers, the light ones. A bit too small but good to focus on whole foot striking. Also worked on "no SWIVZ"!!!
