Exercise Type: Run
Weather: Humid
Comments:
Panicked, paranoid and dreading the impending steady state run with Zeke from Candy Cane along Beach Drive, I dragged myself out of bed after deliberate hydration and icing, and made my way there. Farwell's idea involved a 10 minute warmup, 20 minutes out and back at steady state pace, then a 10 minute cooldown. Knowing quite soon that I was not going to be able to complete the run with that kind of pressure, I suggested that we go out for 30 minutes and back for 10, so that when we turned around we'd only have 10 minutes left and not have to confront the psychological terror of covering the exact same ground. It took a lot to talk Zeke into it, but we did it--and despite the extended cooldown--I stand by my decision completely. At the beginning of the steady state portion I completely freaked myself out and thought I wasn't going to be able to do it, felt fantastic for the next 20 minutes and just wanted it to end during the final 10.
