August 26, 2015 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Beautiful

Comments:
A much needed 11-hour night of sleep made this run one to remember. Despite putting it off until the afternoon, I was eager to get out, and my legs felt light as soon as I started. 10 minutes of warmup got me to Randolph street, which I used to access Chain Bridge and the towpath for 70 of steady state running (possible because of my new watch). If I needed proof that I'm in shape, this was it; once settled into a rhythm, I felt like I could go on forever--until about the last 15 minutes when I had to go up 41st street and I slowed down for about 3 minutes before recovering. Increasingly on long runs and steady state runs, I'm falling into "the zone," a place I need to familiarize myself with to run good 8ks. And the best news: my shin didn't hurt at all!

All out of excuses for not doing strength work, I did 1:30 planks, 2(pushup progression, 75 crunches).

My priorities for the next three days are
1. Doubling with cross training, instead of another run
2. Better recovery, longer stretches, icing things twice
3. Sleep--not lying awake in bed worrying about running, which sometimes happens
4. One quality workout, one steady run, one long run--but NOT trying to cram in mileage before leaving for college on Sunday.
