Boulder, CO - Chataqua Park hills...ran into FORD!

September 25, 2015 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 80, hot!

Comments:
Long day: up at 2:45(!!!) to drive to PDX. I slept OK that night, but could not really sleep at all on the drive up, even though CA drove, or on the plane, in a middle seat.

Got to DEN around 9ish, but waited forever at a backed-up Hertz. Then drove to Boulder.

The idea was possibly meeting up with Finch (friend from WI) who was also vacationing there, but he couldn't swing it, so CA ran the staple Chataqua trails, where everyone goes (including the likes of AK). Just as we were about to start, down runs Ford Smith! I didn't tell him we were coming because A.) I thought he was running UROC, B.) he'd run too fast for us, anyway. So we yelled out to him and chatted for a while.

He said he took a bad fall on the trails a few days ago and his left knee was sore. We chatted, he took off...and the next time I checked my phone, he texted, "You inspired me to race". And he flew to SMF! Lols! Not sure what, exactly, I said to inspire him...

Our run was SUPER easy...hiking up, then jogging/shuffling down the technical Green Mtn-type climbs, amongst a TON of people, including a big-ass elementary school group!

Did about 5 miles, easy.

PM: jumped in Boulder creek, grabbed a late brunch, then drove to Foco and met Nick for a happy hour drink downtown...then met up with my mom and her BFF, Chris, for dinner!

GOOD MEETING. Say what you will about preconceived notions...because when they're good, they work, too! Both Chris and my mom LOVED CA. They couldn't even wait to tell - when CA went to the bathroom, they gushed about how great they think she is. Good stuff :-)

Retired back to Nick's place, where we met his parents, in visiting from England. Then to bd by like 9:45.
