October 19, 2015 (Afternoon)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: Cold
Comments:
Todd, Bijan, Tarduno, Greg, Walker and I ran Mountain-Meadow at 4:10 starting from Towne. The pace was leisurely at the beginning, but got going in the last 15-20 minutes, in particular once we were running on the road again. Not for a million dollars would I have asked Bijan to slow down, though I did not feel good myself.
If I were a betting man I'd wager that my renewed illness is going to get worse before it gets better. There are few things more demoralizing than reporting to Sarah week after week, "I'm still sick, by the way." The lineups for the important, valuable meets were announced today, and surprise, I'm not in any of them. If you thought not breaking 20 minutes at Bullis in 2011 annoyed me, this is a whole new level.
My races and training just don't equate. Even PETE said that he was "impressed with my training", but does that mean I'm going to end up like Zach running 90 miles a week in the middle of the summer and then having seasons that don't pan out? RACES are what's important, not who does the longest long run, etc.
So this week to see if I can pick up the pieces, so to speak, I am going to do a real taper for Plansky, and then see about fitting in another week and a half of hard work before attempting either a 3k or a 5k on the track at the intrasquad Doc Steely Invitational.
