November 3, 2015 (Night)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: low 50s, "fake cold"
Comments:
GREAT run led by MrR on his last hunt before moving back (for realsiez) to NC. He had us meet at Highlands-Safeway, since it's near Craig's old house in South Eugene. From there, he re-created his inaugural hunt, including a convoluted south on Willamette way to getting to Amazon. From there, Amazon, south to Headwaters (for a pull-up or - in my case - a deuce break), then up Headwaters to Ridgeline, west. I thought for sure we'd summit - or at least shoulder - Spencer's, but we kept going to the lower TH, then pounded down Willamette, back to Safeway.
Just a GOOD run. Nice crew:
OGs: me, lewis, Tommy (half-route)
CA, Emily, Hammer
Great convos with everyone, and even had a tall boy of PBR at the start of Headwaters! Lewis and I chatted about WSER training. He's IN (with a Sporthill sponsor spot), so we talked about how his training might differ since he last ran it, back in '12.
I felt pretty darn good all day. Was able to low-grind up Headwaters with minimal HR spike, until we ground the final hills back to Craig's. Some foot and leg soreness, but I feel remarkably little from the "race" Saturday.
Post-run: Obsidian Stout (MrR's first lead beer), and some snack Papa John's. Lewis read some "hunt history highlights" of MrR's hunts the past 3 years.
