CA's "High Five" loop

November 2, 2015 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: mid 70s, 1000% humidity

Comments:
Another pretty early morning. Got out to run around 7:30 with hopes and dreams of a longer run, but we wound up only running five. We BOTH felt super-haggard from the weekend, and it took forever to warm-up. We ran CA's true MAF, and since it was HOT and HUMID already(!), it was pretty slow but not terrible: like mid-9s.

The route is around the random wooded + suburban neighborhood country loops by her house. There's no real loops, just a series of 5 out and backs. Despite how it sounded, it was actually pretty nice.

It's tough to describe what North Florida wooded terrain is like, but the trees just bottle you in, and they're all covered with Spanish moss that trails down from the branches. It's quite pretty.

I came around in my legs, but overall was damn tired, so I was glad to be done at 5. We did x4 sluggish strides, then called it a day.

Post-run: cleaned up, packed up, said goodbye to her mom, then took off.

CA had this idea to show me "the springs", so after a coffee stop (awesome stuff!), we drove nearly two hours east to this freshwater spring.

FUCKING. AWESOME. They're like gigantic pools of crystal clear water coming up from the ground, that then flow to nearby rivers. But the springs, themselves, are swim-able, and beaches with "diving platforms" (docks) are built nearby.

I bet she and I jumped in - off "Big Blue Spring", from a hieight of nearly 7 feet or more - about 30 times each! SO FUN! I love that she loves this stuff, and her joyful, adventurous side is so valued.

Hung out there form probably noon-2, then cleaned up and headed south to Orlando. Met with Ted, one of my coaching clients, who lives in St. Pete, which was cool. Then, off to the airport for the long trip home.

Good day, good trip!
