Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Met the Queen for an AM run before leaving camp. No organized run, so she and I planned a run, akin to what Ford and I did last year. With us was this Rachel woman, another 40-50yo fit-looking "ultra mom".
Ran EASY on the flat road out to "The Cross", then ran this bacon-strip ridgeline doubletrack for a good hour or so. I chatted here and there, but mostly listened to Rachel and Queen.
Rachel was working WAY too hard. We were serously running like 10-minute miles, but she had to be anaerobic. And not-so-coindicentally, she and Megan were talking about Rachel's "stomach issues" in long ultras ("I can't eat anything after 60 miles"). After this run - which ended in Rachel falling off in the last couple flat miles of the run - it's clear it's because she simply grinds too damn hard (for her)...all the time. Probably races that way, too.
Ran about 10.5 miles with a blissful AHR of 117. But the last few miles the HR was mid 120s.
