Comments:
My plan was to go out at about 6:10 pace and then see how long I could hold, also keeping in mind elevation starting to change more after the first several miles.
First mile was 6:06, second was 6:13. My third was around 6:08, so I felt settled in and stuck with that feel. As I went though 4, 5, and 6 though, I had gone towards low 6s, but felt ok, so decided to stick with it. Made a friend Ryan, somewhere in this span who ran for Kent, so we started talking and ran together. By the time we came through mile 7, I was averaging under 6:00 per mile. Still felt ok, so felt confident my body was handling it well. By the time we came to mile 10, I just started to try to hang on to this pace until the end.
Finished 25th overall. I was pretty excited about this. Surprised myself pace-wise and with it being my first serious race since running @ Case especially, it was nice to feel the reward of training again.
Good day, great experience, great event, enjoyable course. Definitely would come back and run this next year. Now, I need to decide what is next. I want/need to keep training.
