Road Trip Pt 3: Bay Area Loop

November 14, 2015 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Walk

Comments:
Zip Car day, aka road trip. We all still woke up early and just hung out and relaxed at the house. Nick was pretty late in getting over haha UC Berkeley time. We mapped out a loop yesterday. Muir woods first via San Rafael Bridge. Knew it was gonna be crazy again. It was we got our first hike in since we had to park way down the road. Steve and I drove together. We hiked up and did the main board walk. We were just talking and telling stories. We were being really loud though. This European dude in blue (I mean BLUE) pants yelled at us and told us too keep it down. He then followed us really creepily the whole way around the trail... kinda sketch. It was perfect weather in the woods. We hiked back down and continued to a look out over the ocean. It was impressive. There were some pill boxes there used in WWII to keep an eye out for the Japanese invasion. Next we cruised up to Stinson Beach via Highway 1. I had never been there before. Its a cool little community. The beach was great I totally forgot to bring my flip flops. Didnt need them we ended up playing some football on the beach. Its been a while since I did that and it was hella fun. Got in my exercise there. Steve and Nick whooped my butt at it though. Ankle felt terrible on the sand. I did dip it into the water, which was freezing. Worth it though always got to hit up the beach when on the west coast. We left Stinson on time to cruise back to the Golden Gate Bridge to catch it at sunset. We were right on time. Saw the sun casting off it from the overlook road off to the right. Then we went over to the coast to actually watch the sunset. Perfect timing and it was so beautiful. There were a bunch of people flying drones to capture the vista. After that, we packed up and made our way back to downtown Oakland. We could see if from the hill, but it was so long driving there, straight through SF. Some construction made us cut through Chinatown and Financial District then over the Bay Bridge. Ended the night with dinner in Oakland and a few cool bars. Oakland has a lot of character and personality. Mostly filled with young professionals. Not many college kids our age honestly. First bar we went to was cool, played some indoor boche ball. Then we went to a little sliver of a bar which had a live band. We were all getting really tired at that point. Stayed out until 1am I think, then Steve gave us a ride home. Everyone just went straight to bed at that point I think. Full day and we maximized it. It was just a blast, forgot about everything and just enjoyed the time with my friends. Sometimes you really need that.
