Exercise Type: Walk
Comments:
Today we went into San Fran for the whole day. Took Bart in and met Nick and Steve right downtown on the Embarcadero. Nick lead us on his classic sightseeing loop. It has been a long long time since I was in San Fran. Really cool to finally be down in the city. It was a beautiful day, and on the bay the wind was whipping a nice breeze in. Still had on shorts and a shirt while everyone else was bundled up in winter coats haha. We walked along the piers to Pier 39, where there are a bunch of shops and stuff. Wandered around looking at funny things, eventually made our way over to Fishermans Wharf. We were getting hungry and decided to stop for lunch. We ended up going to this kinda sketch regular old restaurant. It was expensive since it was seafood. An old guy passed out in the restaurant and an ambulance had to come and get him while we were there. Not good for business... After lunch, continued onto Ghirardelli Square. Its just stores now but the chocolate looked soooo good. I bought some for the guys at school. We then climbed the hill to Lombard St. It was pretty cool a lot of people where there checking it out and actually driving on it so we got to stop and see that. We then cruised down the hill and stopped off in Washington Square to rest and eat some of the sourdough loaf we bought in Fishermans Wharf. Just chilled in the park watching people go about there day. Saw a couple taking engagement pictures. It was kinda funny since there were dogs running all over the place, and homeless people just doing random shit in the background. Also there is a badass statue of my man Benjamin Franklin in the park, go a good picture with him. We then hiked up to Coit tower to get a good view of the city. Didnt go up the tower but you can see so much up there it was pretty cool. So many people live in SF. The tour ended by going back down the hill on some secret steps that Nick just found one day. We ended in the financial district and had some time to kill, so we just went down to the Mission district early and chilled at a cafe next to Dolores Park. It was nightfall and we just had time to sit and chat and sip on some hot cider. Eventually one of Meghans friends met up with us and took us out to dinner and ice cream. He was a Case kid too but I never really knew him. We hung out with him at his apartment for a little bit before heading back to Oakland on the BART. We had early mornings and were pretty tired from walking all over the north end of the city. Another action packed day. Nick came over to our AirBnb and just chilled with us for a while, talking about the future and stuff like that. It was nice, just to spend time with everyone. I miss that so much. Realized that thats what this little trip was about, just a break to get back to basics and spend time with old friends. Its important. Really really enjoyed the trip and glad it all worked out so well. I always knew it would even though I was kinda nervous about it at first. Thats cool that we all have a level of trust like that. Legs didnt feel that tired at the end of the day really, they felt good actually even though we walked pretty far. After Nick said his goodbyes we cleaned up the AirBnB and prepared for our travel days, back to the realities we now live in. Glad to know though that a bit of the past will always be there.
