Lonn Robertson is this awesome, 60-yo local runner (dentist) in town. Not sure how I got to know him, but perhaps mostly through running circles on social media. He organizes two cool road runner events during the year: a Boston simulator run in the spring, and this Christmas run. They draw HUGE numbers, mostly because he gets a shitload of food and drink, and is an awesome guy.
The run is a point-to-point from the golf course in Creswell, OR (20min south of Eugene) to his house: 4 miles direct, or a 10K. CA and I got there at 0720 to run from his house, to the start, to get some extra miles.
Felt a little sluggish on the downhill descent to the country road, then warmed up a bit. Felt a teeny bit of ankle and foot soreness, generally, but not bad.
The Run: ran easy-to-slight grind amongst several groups, including Jeremy Tolman. He's been dealing with some foot issues, and he noted that when he was running behind me, that I "don't ever let my heel touch!". Hmmm...I guess not...
CA had been running with another woman, and eventually we both slowed down and jogged in together. We ran about 8:0x pace, which (given how slow she's been running) is great for her!
Post-run: big indoor-outdoor party, including a ton of food! Had cinnamon rolls, smoked pork shoulder and some other things. FUN TIMES.
Also watched the WS lotto on my photo: Bupkis.
PM: got to work back it the EUG, securing my Bandera entry and flights. A little anxious about that.
...both CA and I felt "tired and a little off" in the PM. And my right ankle was sore and stiff....
