August 29, 2009 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 60 -> 75F, HUMID
Comments:
It was 26-miler day. It's been a long 2 weeks. It's been a long MONTH, really, ever since the 15-tempo. As such, it was a RISK to do this run. I hope it will pay off and not blow up.
The idea was an EASY 26 -- no fast stuff, just "on the feet time". The plan was a loop in SPFD, come back to the house for fuel/water, then head out for a EUG loop.
DID NOT feel good at first. Did the PRE loop, then headed north to the 1-5 bridge over to Gateway, then down Pio Parkway. Felt shitty the whole time, in varying degrees. Down Pio I thought I may just bag it, and be done with 12-13, but I figured, "I'll fuel up and see how the 2nd half feels".
Took only one 15-sec pee stop in the first half, then about 3-4min at home to deuce and hammer a gel/water, then grab a gatorade bottle/gel. Drank that over the next 2 miles, over to Fairmount. Felt slightly better.
Ran 24th to Hilyard, then the entire Rexius loop. Though too soft, it felt good to be on the trail. Grooved a bit there. Then onto adidas where I took only my 3rd stop, for water at adidas. By now it was humid AND sunny; it'd been humid as fuck early.
The last 4 went better than expected: just a lot of focus on form, but not too dead tired. I felt a couple things in my legs but the better focused I was on form, the less I felt those...and the faster I ran. Funny, eh?
Wrapped up the run at 2:59:00ish. For sure 26, maybe more. I'll map it later...
GOOD RUN. Let's hope I survive. The plan for the next 8 days:
Sun: OFF or slog 5 (already have 102 in 6 days)
Mon-Thu: EZ 10-15
Fri: EZ 10 in RF
Sat: 5x 5K in RF, NO RACE IN EC
Sun: EZ 10-15. EC? RF? LAX?
Mon: EZ 10-15 in RF
So just The Biggie, otherwise ALL EZ.
