January 1, 2016 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 40, windy
Comments:
Slept in 'til 9, then lingered around for a bit before heading to the Drift Inn for our complimentary coffee and muffins ("carvin shoes, eatin muffins..."). It was beautiful morning but cold and SUPER-windy!
CA wanted to trail run, so I dropped her off at the beginning of the Coastal Trail, which paralells 101 just south of town. She ran up to Cape Perpetua and back, while I drove to Adobe Resort to get in their pool.
The only problem: NO ONE was in the pool, so I had no way of sneaking in! After trying for like 15 minutes, I said, fuck it, and, wearing full sweats, went for a super-easy jog outdoors.
Ran this trail-road combo along the water in town. The foot felt OK - no sharp pain, but I could feel that it was tight. I tried to be "relaxed and strong" in my feet, and keep my trunk right. Ran about 10+min out, then 8ish min back for two miles. Wore my high-drop mizunos, but no orthotics.
Post-run, I drove back to the room and did strength before CA got back.
PM: made "brunch" in the back courtyard-BBQ area behind Drift Inn, then we left to do some touring: driving up to Newport. We watched the sunset above Nye Beach, then hit up Rogue Brewery for a beer. It was FRIGID *in the brewery* but enjoyable. After a beer, we drove back to Y-town for sea food at Luna's.
Foot: it was on and off achy the rest of the day. Even driving, with the heel rest on the truck floor, it aches. I'm doing a variety of things -- massage (but not super aggressive), joint mobs, and nerve stretches - to help rehab it, and I taped it again today.
I don't think I undid healing with the run, but I don't think it helped...
