Baldy x3 with CA

December 28, 2015 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Decided to run Baldies today, since I haven't gotten legitimate vertical in a week and a half.

My foot didn't seem all that sore this morning. On the other hand, I was surprised that it was sore at all, given that I only ran an easy four yesterday (=TROUBLE, in retrospect logging).

Met CA at the usual spot for a luncheon Baldy. The plan was to run one more normal (x3) session, then perhaps 1-2 next week, pre-race.

Ran easy on the soft crap toward Baldy. I felt the foot a bit, but it was fine.

The objective, once again, was moderate-hard threshold effort, only. Then, on Thursday, likely go hard on the track for longer intervals (8s, Ks, or 16s). Air was OK and it was cool, so no issues.

Felt pretty damn good today. The focus:

- feet + hips opening behind
- trying to be tall into the hill
- shoulder blades

They're a lot more annoying to be HR disciplined, since it's a constant monitoring of HR and slowing down.

The cool thing was, CA stuck with me the WHOLE workout. I told her I'd be going easier, and that emboldened her to run harder, so she ran with me as long as she could, usually about two-thirds of the way up. She'd fall off but never far back. It was great! She had a terrific workout!

Despite my governor restriction, I was happy with the results

split (HR):

9:51 (165), 8:26 (136)
10:05 (170), 8:12 (142)
10:05 (171), 7:58 (135)

Felt GREAT. No issues, and no foot soreness, including on the quick, aggressive downs! I did also focus on:

- trunk RIGHT

...to be sure I wasn't overloading the foot!

Ran easy back to the truck, then quickly back to work.

Really stoked with those splits...on **HR DISCIPLINE!** That's awesome. I ran those splits a year ago, but basically going all-out. I felt pretty confident that I could've blasted like 9:30s with abandon...but now's not the time! :-)
