Short course run with Avery and CA

January 8, 2016 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 70, nice!

Comments:
Slept in, sort of, then had tea and made breakfast. Avery took off to do an errand in SAT, so we ate a late breakfast, then went to Dogleg coffee in Bandera for coffee and internet use.

We all convened there at 2PM to head out to the course. Once there, it was the usual hullabaloo with all the ultra folks, both the national ultrarunners and media, and the RWB folks, most of whom call Texas home and have a big prescence at the race.

The foot felt pretty dang alright today, and I really wanted to show Avery bits of the course. So I suited up and jogged a couple miles, with CA in tow.

We ran real easy in warm but dry conditions, from the start, along the kilo of flat trail toward the first rocky, craggy climb. Avery was really surprised at the technicality of the trail, so it was a good little taste. We ran about 2ish K out, then did a little quick-footed descent on the return.

NO issues with the foot; really didn't feel it.

Did just under three miles.

From there, we chatted with more folks, and I checked in (just to get the parking permit for tomorrow) then checked out again, stating - with major disappointment - that I wasn't racing.

After that CA stayed to do a longer run, and Avery and I drove back together to the house. Had a nice chat with him on the half-hour return drive. He's a really nice guy.

PM: beers back at the house, waiting for CA. We saw Ford out at the course, as well as most of the other usuals - including DeNucci and the Terranovas. Ford met us back at the house, along with a friend of his, Jack. It'd be us five at the house.

CA got back and we had a nice dinner of sausages over "Zoodles" (zuchinni noodles). Then sat around and chatted quite a bit with the guys.

Fun night!

Foot felt a little achy at night, but not bad at all!
