4x800, 3x200 with CA - Sheldon HS

January 21, 2016 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: nearly 60, extremely "fake cold" (gray, but warm)

Comments:
I was determined to get back in the saddle, and with a good rebound from the tempo Tuesday, I decided to give the track a try with CA. But rather than do my own pace, I ran hers...for most of it.

Ran 4x800, running the first 3 with her, then busting open the second lap of the last one.

Splits (HR)

2:53 (163)
2:51 (165)
2:50 (169)
2:38 (175)

On the last one, I gave it a good push, splitting :74 for the last 400.

We did ALL the fast running clockwise. So for the 2s, we weren't quite sure where to start and end. Lane 1 at Sheldon is garbage, so we went 2 and 3. I usually give her a head start so I took off from BEHIND the stagger...and fucking-a, but I could NOT catch her! Then I ound up splitting like 35! WTF? I did feel sluggish (mostly from the heavy weights this week). The second one, same story: didn't quite catch her, AND slow!

Finally, I figured it out! we were BOTH running too far! Since we were running the stagger (which cuts off distance going from the 100m mark), we were ADDING distance by going in reverse! LOLZ! And I was double-adding, being in an outer lane, AND being behind her.

So for the last one, we ran lane one, no stagger. Wound up running 32.x, which didn't feel harder, and was likely what we were splitting the first two. Lolz. Bad math. Not bad splits for the clunky mizunos.

Jogged back to work. Sheldon isn't a nice track, but it's only 1.5 miles (and 1 stop light) from work, and never has people on it, making it easy to run clockwise. This may be the spring go-to track.

Foot: low-level soreness, much better than Tuesday!
