AM weights, PM yoga

January 29, 2016 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Weights

Comments:
Good day today! Slept in (sort of - until 6:30). No AM studying. Ate, then lifted before work, same as Wednesday (3 sets, UEs, LEs). Felt a little more sluggish today, but otherwise good.

I've been doing a NEW "core" exercise: active trunk rotation. Start on the back, and actively flex up a knee and "drive it" across the body toward the floor. It looks like a sprinter's dynamic "hamstring rotation" exercise, except this is more ab-oriented, driving a knee across, but upward.

I'm convinced this is THE deficit (plus the foot-plant) that creates the "imbalanced stride": when this is tight and weak.

Foot was minimally sore in the AM, and not too sore with ball massage. Both the ball and calf stretching have been AM staples...

GREAT morning of work: Jeff's out for a long weekend, so it was Jake & I working together, first with one of my favorite super-master's runners came in as a new patient for a run injury. After that, it was a bunch of quick follow-ups, and my final pt - a 90-minute pool visit - canceled, so Jake & I chatted on some stuff, then I was out!

Afternoon: got more studying done, ate, then CA got home and we went to yoga. Not sure what happened, but I did eat some pickles in a sandwich at lunch, but I went from "chipper" to SUPER-tired and grumpy! Weird.

Post-yoga, had a drink with Nick (new-ish local client), talking about "finding ease" in training and racing. CA came a long.

PM: leftovers with CA, then a relaxing night on the couch. No extra studying. TIRED.

NO RUN today. The focus is squarely on HEALING, and then studying. Will probably try to run a short distance on Monday.
