Short Skinner

February 4, 2016 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: nearly 60! Nice!

Comments:
Another "standard annoying day" was thwarted by a morning lift. Went to Oakway, ran 3 minutes warm-up on the treadmill (fine), then did back-to-back pool visits before going to work, proper. Foot was fine, but I taped it after the pool.

Worked 'til noon, then studied over lunch. Worked some more...and the foot felt pretty damn good all day.

During the day, I had an idea: Why not run in my HOKAS? Peter Thompson, an older coach in town who's a higher-up Hoka rep, has given me TWO pairs of free Hokas, the first pair nearly two years ago. They've been untouched in the boxes. But I thought about it - isn't the WHOLE point of them to relieve pain? And while they can be crappy for mechanics, if you know how to be efficient, why not try them?

So once I got home, I dug 'em out: they actually felt comfy! Then I went for a short run: just the simple two miles loop around Skinner, down by the river.

LOVED the shoes! Soft, but not too soft. And it felt like the sole would *let me* roll through and push off straight behind. They were really interesting.

The foot felt perfectly fine...but the fucking annoying thing is, 95% of the time, the foot feels good WHILE running, then achy and sore for hours after - the rest of the day. Today, it was decent: a bit sore but not bad afterward.

After dinner, CA and I needed a bit of fun, so we went to "Level Up" for some games! She nearly crushed me in air hockey: I went down 0-3, came back to tie it, but then she won (a timed game) 5-3. She scored on her first contact serve: straight into the goal! F! lols

Fun stuff. Good to have a mini fun-night.
