Weather: mild chill; breezy, then sunny
Comments:
Weird day. Up EARLY (0430) for Callie's 10-mile race in Bend. I didn't go, but I got up to make her breakfast, then stayed up when she left at 0530. Did laundry and worked on my iRF column revisions, then finally left the house at 0830.
I really wanted to take my 100-question practice test at the library (in a study carrol, dead-quiet), but it didn't open until 1PM and I didn't want to wait. So I just went to Allan Bros.
Test was......OK. I scored 72 out of 100. Apparently this practice test is harder than the real one, and the "average score is 66-70" (and "90 percent of the practice course takers pass the real exam"). So does this mean I have OVER a 90 percent shot? Dunno. But I don't like the idea that I got so many goddamn questions wrong!
I didn't check the answers after; instead, I went to Matt's house (my old place in Springfield) to run. Haven't run just him and me in a long time, so it was good.
BOTH feet were a bit sore from the shenanigans on the turf yesterday, but felt nothing on the run. Ran up and over to Dorris Ranch park along the river, did a couple loops, then came back. Had some good chats - I told him about my brother blowing up on me at Christmas (on the topic of "people who need to figure out their SHIT") and he related to me how he went to counseling 15 yrs back when his dad died. Real solid guy, that Matt Thornton.
Felt pretty garbage-y on this run. Stride was...bleh. Not great. When I'm half-slogging, I can feel that I'm not having a strong follow through. I keep doing this thing where my foot push-off and follow-through isn't STRAIGHT back; rather, both feet curve IN. I know this, because when I do it, I often will strike my swing foot on my stance calf. Annoying. PAWBACK is the key to that, and I was mediocre at it today.
Did mediocre as well at:
- R scap
- pelvis L
- R foot
- knees out
But it was an OK run. HR was too high (maybe 140 avg?), but oh well.
Post-run: had a half pour of his homebrew IPA at 1230, then went home, ate...then NAPPED! It was amazing. Slept like a ROCK for 2.5 hours!!
PM: Callie came home, I studied and did some light hip strength work, we ate, we both studied. This is the life!
Foot's been a bit more sore this evening. Will probably go shorter tomorrow.
Longest "healthy run" (that did not result in major flare) of 2016.
