The communal donut... and a workout

April 9, 2016 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
The track was covered in a layer of snow that obscured the lines but luckily did not cause any major problems while we were running. I liked not being able to see the lanes, but that also meant I couldn't really tell where to stop.
The workout was long. It was sixteen 300s broken into sets of four. There was 100m of jogging in between 300s and 200m of jogging between sets. The first three sets were supposed to be at a consistent tempoish pace (maybe a fast tempo) and the last set had to be faster than the rest. I ran all of my reps in 73 to 76 seconds with the exception of a few that were a second slow or fast. The last set I tried running them all in 68 to 70 seconds. I got a little tripped up on the first two reps in the last set trying to pass Zoe in lane one and not run into the boys going in the opposite direction in lane two. It slowed me down by a lot more than I originally thought, but I was still going at the right pace for the rest of the time, which is the most important thing.
This reminded me of the 400s workout we did at Barton, it was like 10-14 reps of 400s with maybe 200ms of jogging in between or something like that.
I felt really accomplished after we finished the workout, I think I'm ready for the 3k now.
On the cooldown one of Julia's friends gave us a doughnut and we passed it around, each taking a bite. I know that's not exactly a salubrious thing to do, especially after a workout, but the doughnut was really good.
My mom said we're going to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner tonight; I've never been there. Hopefully it will be okay.

I read a quote out of a book, it was something like "Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional".
It seems like it would be a good quote for xc. I think I'll try to include quotes related to track or xc in my logs from now on. It might motivate me to finish my books because often what happens is I start a book and then I'll see another that looks really interesting and I forget about the first one. Now there's about six partially read books sitting in my room and more that I haven't even opened yet.
