Golden Bear Invitational

May 6, 2016 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
We got to Vestal and I started warming up for the 4x800m with Charlotte, Rotem, and Ingrid after the girls steeplechase. I felt kind of heavy at first but that feeling eventually went away. I worked on my forward lean during the progressive warmup. I'm not sure if I was doing it right, but in the last few minutes I felt like I was going so fast without putting any effort in. We checked in and did some drills and strides when we got back. I'm glad I wasn't anchoring because I was so anxious to just run my leg of the relay as soon I could. Ingrid started us off, I went second, Rotem third, and Charlotte anchored. I didn't run my best time, but it was a lot better than my last few races in the 800m. I also passed two or three girls and that felt really good. Ingrid has been improving a lot in the 800m recently. I think she ran a 2:42 split which is just one second away from my 2:42. Soon she'll be faster than me in the 800m. Weishaar told Rotem she has a really long sttride and that if she picked up her cadence she could be flying. Rotem said she would've done that if she had known before which made me laugh. I told her it's something to work on in practice. Charlotte ran a solid 2:39 for her split. I know that time probably wouldn't have met her standards last year, but I thought it was great because this was her first 800m and she basically hasn't been running at all. We did a 20 minute cooldown after and then 4 laps of ins and outs on the turf. I had nothing to do after so I just sat under the tent and watched some really great races for the rest of the meet.
