Short Run

May 20, 2016 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
I didn't know going on a long run was an option today because I wasn't at practice, so I just went on a quick 3 mile run. I had to go to an echocardiologist today in Elmira which is why I missed school and track practice. I went to the same cardiologist in 2012 when my uncle was diagnosed with a heart condition. This was basically a follow-up appointment where they did the exact same thing as last time. I was actually a little nervous that they might find something wrong, but the doctor was saying stuff like "yes, that's good, that's good, beautiful" when he was looking at the imaging of my heart so I knew that I'd be fine. I got to watch the valves and arteries which was really interesting. At one point the doctor's assistant pressed some buttons on the computer and I heard a noise that sounded kinda like a gust of wind. I asked her what it was and she said that it was the valves opening and closing. I thought the coolest part of the appointment was seeing all four chambers of my heart on the screen. It wasn't in color of course, and it was kinda blurry, but it was still really obvious what I was looking at.
The first mile of my run was mostly uphill, and there was a lot of downhill on the third mile so that helps explain the change in pace.
