Happy Camper

May 29, 2016 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
The girls met at 7:30 at the track. We ended up waiting until 7:45 because Julia got a flat tire and she was supposed to pick Emma up. Nisha was also a bit late because she had to bike to practice. Apparently she got chased by geese on the way down. Grace and I did a different workout, it was 2x(2x200 and 1x400) with a 200 meter jog after the 200s and a 400 meter jog after the first 400. I didn’t think it was as hard as other workouts we have done. I was way below my times for the first set, but the second set was closer. We cooled down for about ten minutes. Later in the evening, I left to meet some of my cousins who were camping in a park near Treman. We drove on a winding, hilly road for a while before turning right at the campsite. It was really big and filled with RVs that were about the size of a mobile home. Our cousin’s RV was behind an old wooden amphitheater where a country band was playing so loudly I couldn’t hear anyone talking. Surrounding the amphitheater was an open space about the size of a football field that naturally sloped upward. A considerable amount of people were probably expected to be there, but only a few people stood in the grass. At one point the lead singer yelled, “let me hear you!” and literally one person and the other end of the field was like “yeaaah”. That was probably the most cringeworthy moment. It was raining most of the time so I just sat under an umbrella and watched the occasional drunk person run out in front of the band, spin around, then staggered away. My mom made cookies for after dinner and they were really good. My brother and I walked around the camp with one of our cousins who is going to Virginia Tech next year and I saw the creepiest playground ever. It looked like someone took a few small pieces of a weird amusement park and dropped them under some pine trees. There was one structure that looked like a hamburger, except instead of a burger or lettuce there was an empty space, apparently meant to be occupied by children, surrounded by vertical bars. We started talking about how only a cannibalistic giant could’ve come up with that. Tomorrow is an off day. I think I’m going to Watkins Glen to meet up with some relatives but I’m not sure.
