Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Fit in a run today. Good thing I brought my stuff. We were on the fence but found some time after walking around the city in the morning and finally meeting up with the rest of the family. I had just enough time to digest before heading out. Dad and I walked down to the Lake Shore trail from the hotel it was too crowded to run down the street. Once we got out there, it was also pretty crowded. It was a classic summer day. The beaches were packed, the trail was also packed with bikes and walkers. The boats out on the lake were tethered together and people were having huge barge parties. It looked like the beach in Cancun or something, not Chicago! I guess they deserve it, the weather is pretty shitty the rest of the year. I ran out 15 minutes up the trail, past Oak St beach to the next beach, almost up to Lincoln Park. I tried to keep the pace up but it was hard on the concrete. I didnt let any runners pass be and tried to pass as many bikes as possible. That made it fun. Coming back was tough since my legs were starting to get heavy. I finished right at the same time as Dad got back from his out and back. We proceeded to walk down the rest of the trail, past Navy Pier and over to the park to try and meet up with everyone. It was so busy on the side walk we could barely run. Once we got to the park it was even crazier, holy shit every one in the city was there. There was no way that we were gonna find the rest of the family. We just said screw it and walked back to the hotel. So got in a good run and a lot of extra walking. I was pretty tired when we finally got back.
Essentials: Stretch
Good stretch and cool down when we got back. Had some time to rest and recover. Legs kinda sore from the tough roads. Glad we got in a good run though and it was a really cool way to see the city. No way I could do that every day though I have no idea how people legit train when they live in a big city like that.
