Early Fast Tempo at MLK

September 16, 2009 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Ran the tempo early today with Meghan because we both have the same late physics lab. Felt semi good today. Went out pretty fast be then settled into mid 5:40 pace which felt "comfortably hard" today. It was nice and encouraging to run at that pace and not feel too bad about it. I tried to keep my "chin parallel to the ground" and focus ahead instead of just scanning the ground constantly for the next mark on the path/ time check. I think this helped a lot keeping me going. Also I tried to keep mentally on my toes never zoning out but always focusing on the run and keeping the pace where it needs to be which helped as well. My legs started to feel a little heavy in the last quater mile or so but afterwards they felt fine and I feel fine tonight. Me and Meghan did 3 striders at the track after and it felt good to stride into running fast that last straight. I tried to pump my arms hard coming down to feel that I still have the speed I had in track.
Static 1 when I got back. 3 sets of super crunches, 30 pushups, and 3x15 dips in my room tonight.
Heart rate after the workout: 180
Resting Heart Rate: 48
Splits from workout: 5:31, 5:47, 5:46, 4:41
