Cool out-and-back road grind in Brookings!

Weather: 65? Nice! Perfect for coast running

Comments:
Got up, packed up, and drove down to the harbor. Drank tea and walked around, then went for a run. We wanted something "runnable", so after milling around the harbor, super-easy, we split off, and headed for this light country road bordering 101.

Turned out to be an AWESOME road: totally flat (slight DH out) and low traffic. With the slight tailwind, it was like effortless to run 7:0x! I kept going and going, and when I looked back, CA was still in view! The road finally looped into 101 about 5+ miles out of town. I stopped to wait for CA, and she was hauling ass...and she just ran to me, turned around, and hauled ass back, with a big smile on her face! Lols, "I guess it's ON!"

I didn't take the bait; instead I crossed 101 to add another half-mile, figuring if I Grinded, I *might* catch her. Ran easy-ish until 6.0 on the watch, then turned back.

Hit a couple light rollers, then turned back and began the grind. Major form focus, of course, while trying to keep it true threshold (which helps keep the form):

- tall & forward
- pelvis left
- "reach longer" with the right leg
- knees out (R)

Felt solid, but then I realized why the outbound was fast: the tailwind and it was a *light* downhill (like 1%, maybe). So it wasn't so fast on the return, but still solid:

Felt a little worked when I got back near the harbor, and just in time to reel in CA. Ran like the last 200m with her to get an even 11.

Post-run:
- breakfast in the harbor parking lot
- long work session in a good coffee shop in the harbor
- drove to Grants Pass
- decided to stay in an airbnb, "a room to rent", in GP. Was...OK. WAY over-priced. The guy (and his GF) were nice, but the place was a little dirty( or a lot), and not well ventilated in our upstairs room
- went for a late dinner at a new brew pub, which was solid
