September 19, 2009 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: kinda hot
Comments:
Goals: run the whole thing, stay on varsity, sprint at the end
What I did well: kicked it into gear the 3rd mile
What I didn't: WALKED UP THAT STUPID HILL, didn't try to pass anybody at all
Mile 1: I felt AWESOME. I was pacing myself, the hills didn't bother me I was just letting myself glide up them.
Mile 2: It all went down (well technically up)hill from here. I was feeling okay, kind of tired but okay. I went up all those dumb little hills then I was mentally preparing myself for the big one. And I felt myself die. The most frustrating part is that I know I could have ran up it. I was just giving into weakness. I slowed down after this hill. I could barely breathe I don't know what happened like I couldn't control my breathing until Rusty told me to take calm breaths. Which helped.
Mile 3: I knew I had to kick it in majorly for the lost time in the 2nd mile if I wanted to stay on varsity. I felt great again (ironically) and I was focusing on holding the little ring Sora made me out of grass stuff.
Finish: Yeah, I didn't go as fast as I wanted, but it was faster than I normally go. So that's a plus. I think it was a strong(er) one.
All in all I'm pleased I guess, in terms of how I felt the first and third mile. I'm annoyed though that I walked up the hill.
But, oh, wait until next year...that hill is not beating me again.
I had a great time today, thanks coaches for the race and killer course. And thanks team for cheering me on. I don't think I could have made it through the second mile without everyone's cheering.
And I don't remember my time..so I'm not putting it. It was 24:30 something I think..maybe even 40 something. Hey I think that that was my Jimmy Driscoll time!
