Good day! Slept decent, made a ("ratch") breakfast in our airbnb, then left FoCo for CA's first inspection, north of Denver

Hung out in a really good coffee shop all day, getting coaching done, and having a *really good* teleconference meeting with Greg McMillan, re: Stride Coaching! It's basically a Go, with the launch date of early November! Pretty cool. This buoys my "business" spirits, as it would definitely make up for my dearth of clinic business right now...

CA got done pretty early, so she picked me up around 3 and we drove to our airbnb in Boulder. She wanted some "mountain time". so we headed west to Nederland and to a major trailhead that accesses the mountains & the continental divide.

I was tired and not so much in the mood for any high-altitude trailrunning (after consecutive up-and-down runs, already), but this was a good one.

Shuffle-ran up the super-rocky trail - one I've been on, with Dallas, back in January '14 - about 2 miles to a little spur to Lost Lake. REALLY cool lake: little lake at the base of a small peak. We ran to a point along the shore, then just sat there as the sun began to set. REALLY nice.

After that, we shuffled back down. Effort was super-mellow. I had some heartburn from having some PB & nuts as snack, but that abated.

Just as we were about to the TH, we got to a meadow, and heard some major crunching in the trees. Then, without warning, THREE elk came storming out, like AT US. There was a small barb-wire fence separating the meadow from the double-track and that only mildly kept them at bay. We didn't run, but backed WAY back as a family of three - dad, mom and "baby" came out, hung out in the meadow, then crossed the road and went into the woods! It was scary for a time, as Dad hung out, snoring and making noises, while blocking our way to the TH, but a third runner came down the doubletrack and helped scare him off. Cool but scary!

Good run! Wrapped just before sunset.

Drove back to Boulder and had some good chow in town, a beer, then back to our place. GOOD DAY.
