Comments:
The girls had a team dinner last night which was fun. We went to CU homecoming at 7 and I stayed until 8, which was literally right when it started, so I never got to see the lights show but it was still nice to hang out with everyone.
In the morning I was so tired that I thought it was Sunday and I had already raced. Took me about 30 seconds to realize that I actually had to get up.
I was excited when we got to the meet. At least, I thought I was excited until I saw my dog Scooter because compared to her, I was only slightly enthusiastic. Kim told me that it might be better to run in sneakers during the race, but that it was really up to me. After we ran the course I knew that I would definitely wear my spikes. When the race started, I almost fell going down the first hill because some of the girls bumped into me. A few of them actually apologized which made me want to laugh. For most of the race I was between Grace and Zoe. Grace came up beside me towards the end and we finished together. During the second half of the race I knew that I could go faster, but for some reason I just couldn't get myself to go. When I finished I didn't feel much more tired than after workouts. It was also about halfway through when I moved my toes and noticed that they had gone numb. It was an interesting sensation because it kinda felt like I was standing on cliff with only my toes hanging off the edge so that when I moved them I couldn't feel anything below. They probably went numb because of the tape around my feet and maybe the tape on my spikes too.
At first I thought my race was just average because my 5k pr is 21:00.7 and I ran 21:00.9 today, but then I remembered that I ran 22:00 on this course last year. That made me happy because 60 seconds is a pretty good improvement. Girls got 12th overall and 3rd in our race! I think we can do a lot better though.
