September 30, 2016 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Early AM flight outta EUG went seemlessly (for a change?), getting into MSP at 12:45. Jeremy Kieser picked me up and gave me a ride to Hudson, where mom picked me up and drove me to Hudson.
Rather than haul ass to EC, I figured I'd just run in River Falls. Ran from mom's, straight to Hoffman Park (a rare direct-route), then up the west end entrance for a few laps.
I hadn't been at Hoffman since Christmas, so it was exciting to be there....but it was, once again, a frustrating reminder of how much goddamn faster I used to be. A "par" lap used to be about 7:30 (or, at slowest 7:45), "moderate" was 7-lows, and legit grind was sub 7 for this mostly-flat-but-slightly-rugged 1.05-mile loop.
Today, I thought I might've been close to par: I felt strong and *a little grindy*. Instead, I split a goddamn 8:45! WTF??
Splits:
8:31 (139hr)
8:36 (138)
8:33 (141)
It was definitely humid and a bit allergy'd, but I felt fine, enough. Oh well. Someday...
After three laps, I jogged back (via the west end) to mom's.
Rest of the day:
- shower, then pack up and coffee stop at Dish & Spoon (where I ran into and talked with Emily Testa, my 10th grade English teacher, who I hadn't seen in many years)
- drove to EC for Finchy's Blugold HOF ceremony!
- had a GREAT TIME: we had 11 guys and Hartnett at the ceremony, then +3 more and Bushland at the post-ceremony fest at the rooftop Dive Bar
- retired before midnight at "The Clarion" (e.g the Holiday Inn-Campus, my "dorm" for junior year).
REALLY great day!
