October 10, 2016 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: COLD, dark, then OK
Comments:
EARLY run. Slept OK in the other building again, then awoke, dressed, and slammed some coffee before the "Sunrise Run". I don't recall this from previous years, so it seemed brand new. We all ran (in our 4 groups) from the pavillion to the lookout, which is a mile away. From there, we stood around, waiting for sunset, but also standing in a circle, going around, saying something about their weekend experience. It was a really cool moment, especially with the rising sun...but "too COOL". Like COLD! Had I known we were going to stand up there for like 30+ minutes, I would've brought like 9 layers! Yeesh.
After we finished, we were just randomly milling around. I could simply not take the cold anymore, so I slowly wandered away...then started running. Up top, I found this awesome, at times super-rocky technical trail that looped along a ridgeline, then dove down and ran along a creek bed, back to the Nueces. Did that out and back, which was really fun.
Rest of the day: "Peace Out" - "Irish Goodbye"
- ditched my 2013 N1 trails, which had blown out
- showered and packed
- basically missed breakfast except for a quick bowl of eggs to go
- said VERY FEW goodbyes (just too many people!), then packed up the car and took off by 9!
- drove to Bandera for breakfast (bleh) and coffee + work (OK)
- to SAT for the flight
Flights were fine, but man, I'm tired of traveling.
REALLY GREAT time at camp. I'm really gonna miss it!
