December 8, 2016 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 30s, cold-ice-slush
Comments:
It snowed-rained overnight leaving Eugene in a shitty state of affairs, but a brave trio of us - me, Tommy and Evan - convened for a workout.
After some easy warm-up, we hit the bark trail for the grind mile. It was in ROUGH shape, way worse than the track: ice atop mud atop bark ,and super-slick.
Split (HR): 6:14 (163 - jacked early and had to run slow)
300s:
56.4
58.0
52.4
54.5
53.0
54.1
53.x
53.3
51.6
50.5
The first few were tenuous on the ice, 'til we broke it up. Then we ran them washing-machine style, and on the odd number reps, I led (clockwise), and the evens, Evan led, and I gave him a head-start. The latter combo was a winner: he would run faster being chased, and I would run faster, chasing him! Tommy, nursing a sore hammy, ran 200s, and would alternate between the first 200 and the last 200 of our reps.
Hard, but REALLY fun. Rest was longer than it should've been (between 1-2min), but it was still plenty challenging.
Stride felt pretty solid.
SO glad and lucky to have those guys out there, because a workout like this, solo, would've been brutal.
After the reps, I ran to Oakway to lift (meeting CA there), lifted and ran back to the office.
