8x alternative Skinner Hill

January 5, 2017 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 15 ->25F, sunny

Comments:
Another clusterfuck weather day. Beautiful morning, but all the snow turned to varying decrees of ice: crusted or glare. We slept in a bit, then worked around here 'til we braved our way down in the hill in my truck (made safe by the addition of some sand to the road overnight by the city). After some coffee, more work, and a haircut, Callie and I headed to the gym. She cross-trained, and I went out to run.

Side-note: got my metabolic test results back to day. Interestingly, they say my "Zone 1" is "under 156"! Yeesh, that's high! But alas, I didn't start to accumulate lactate 'til about then. Interesting. My threshold was slightly higher (maybe high 160s: 168-170). Good to know, but I'm not going to make any wholesale changes to training, other than perhaps feeling a bit better about my grind runs.

Most of everything that was shaded was icy and shitty, but in the sun, most of it had melted. But that didn't leave a ton of options. I ran to the original Skinner Hill ("TRAN's Trapezoids"), but that was pure ice; however, on the SW side, it was sunny and had melted, so I said, "Fuck it" and went for it. Ran a couple more shuffly miles warm-up, did some back stretching, then went after it.

Ran up the hill, maybe 200m, then turned a sharp right to the Skinner loop, for another 100m. First rep was about 1:19, so it seems like it might've been 300m. Jogged down. Thought about ten, but was feeling a little haggard, so I only did ten.

Did some interesting imagery today: the first four, I thought about Gratitude or positive prayers to various people; the second set, were "Fuck Yous" (or "Airing of Grievances", people I'm annoyed with). In order:

Callie Alice
My hairdresser (who's going through some life changes)
My mom
My brother Will
--
Paul & Meredith Terranova (-Chris Denucci): two entities I'm annoyed with that they're sponsored "AF" for really not being that great
Sage Canaday (always a solid pick)
Tim Olson
Ruby Arobogast ("The Editor")

Let's see how the splits settled out:

1:19
1:17
1:17
1:17
1:17
1:14
1:15
1:12

Lols. I think I know what's motivating me, pre-SOB 100K.

Jogged easy in the snow-ice back to Oakway. Good lift (sort of, I was tired) then back to work for one PM patient. Then home. Good day! Heading to Bend tomorrow to "escort CA" to a work inspection.
