Indoor treadmill run at In Shape

January 9, 2017 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Long morning of coaching, at home, since I didn't do shit yesterday. But I did this thing were I'd do core (a few exercises) between each client, which broke up the time AND was a big-time workout! (Was SORE the next couple days, after!)

The weather was slightly better - like mid-30s and drizzle, which faintly melted the snow in the AM. Using class-5 gravel from our landscaping, I freed both our trucks from the ice in the street-driveway, which was clutch. As such, the streets were NOT ready for running.

So I went to In Shape. Ran 8 miles on the treadmill...which wasn't terrible, because they had a front and side mirrors! Watched for good knee out and trunk forward + hip extension. But man, there's something about treadmills (and the nature of pushing off something that's moving) that really works the lower legs harder. Was sore afterward.

The HR was jacked, too! I didn't get faster than maybe 7:30 pace, but my HR jacked to 150! Could've been the heat, but there was stagnant air in town, too. Dunno...

Saw one patient, then had my second video chat with Ellie. A FULL hour! I'm really sinking time into this, but I'm determined to triumph! She's getting it, but had to take time off running...FINALLY, which is good. Frankly, she just hasn't had what I'd call "complete care":

1. skilled manual therapy
2. foundational sports medicine
3. REAL gait analysis and adjustment
4. PAIN MANAGEMENT

Her first PT, an "elite sports med PT" did #2...but sucked at #3 and was non-existant at 4 (the irony). Her new PT is good at #1, OK at 2, but very poor at 3 and 4.

I'm all four. And while I can't treat her, hands-on, I still like my odds.
