January 17, 2017 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 40, misty, bleh
Comments:
Back-to-back! Got up, didn't feel too terrible, so I got after it for a hard, flat run to follow the long vertical session.
Legs didn't feel that bad at all, soreness-wise...however, they were HEAVY. Thank God I had a nice, gentle downhill from the place, down Jefferson, to the Amazon Path.
The West Amazon Path...isn't great. It's like a step up from that storm drain thing that appeared in the chase scene of "Terminator 2" -- concrete path along a (usually, but not always) concreted creek that flows lazily through west Eugene to the reservoir. The "trail" follows it. I've biked along it a ton (good way to get through town with minimal traffic), so it's a logical, if not boring choice for a nearby tempo loop.
Took about 2K to get there, then I gradually ratcheted it up.
Felt...OK. I'm disappointed by how "slow" my splits have been on these runs, but there are a few factors, including being fasted, being "ill", and I think this watch is continually short. So...grains of salt.
The run was hard work. I ratcheted it down, but it was not quite the "cruise" I wanted. Ran out 5.3 miles or so (and almost stopped to deuce), then came back. I finished about 1.5 miles from home, and the last mile was TOUGH.
Oh well. Got it done, and a quality B2B!
Splits (HR):
8:14 (114) - downhill
7:13 (138)
6:46 (150)
6:46 (156)
6:36 (160)
6:38 (163)
6:29 (168)
6:35 (168)
6:29 (171)
----
10:42 (140) - uphill
Had some rough gutrot after that, but otherwise a good run.
PM: was pretty damn wiped out, so we declined to hunt or social.
