Early AM "RunHub" Ridgeline Spencer Run

January 28, 2017 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: foggy-stagnant air, chilly but dry

Comments:
Decided I'd get my long-and-slow, vertical run out of the way, by taking part in RunHub's monthly trail run. No destination run this month: just good 'ol Ridgeline, from the west-Blanton TH. Got up early again (training for SOB) and was out the door by 7:30 and ontime for the start.

BIG group! And lots of former clients, which was nice and cool. "Trace BEEE" led the run (it's funny; I've only seen her, now, like FOUR times since she moved here, nearly two years ago!), and she got out hard, with a pack of other guys, clearly grinding the piss out of their run.

I hung back with Andy, one of my early PT clients at UPP, who finished RRR100. Caught up with him and ran fairly chill (but a little "hot") as we climbed up the ridge from the TH. After a bit, he let me go ahead and I slowed it a bit. And, of course, before long, we caught the grind group on the downs, only to lose them again on the climb from Willamette.

Andy I an crept along, and came across them at the junction to climb Spencer, essentially stopping to rest. None of them, save one guy, Henrik (who I met at a RH run this summer) was going up, so the three of us continued. Once on the shoulder, Andy and Henrik peeled off, and I continued up...just as two other former PT patients ran by! Lols! Caught up with "The Buchanans" to the summit.

Weird stuff up there; an inversion SHIT layer from ground to about 1000', clear, then clouds at maybe 15000', because, although there wasn't sunshine, you could see the Three Sisters.

Chatted up top a bit, then I ran solo, down to the main lot (to deuce), then down the road, and back onto Ridgeline to the truck.

Did x6 strides in the road, then headed home.

Had a nice post-run:

- showered and changed
- went to Friendly St market, where some of the runners were assmebling
- got a coffee and THE BEST DAMN CROISSANT-wich EVER: amazing little croissant, egg, cheese, sausage, another egg, more cheese! It was $7 but outrageously good
- CA (who slept in and went to yoga) joined me, and I had another with her!

Rest of the day:
- NAPPED at home (needed it, still recovering...and I basically had pollution hangover)
- did some work
- CA and I went out, to play some arcade games, then pizza, then dessert
- ...then got into a fight (read: Joe made CA cry) because I made a big deal of her "crushing" (OK, an exaggeration) my dessert with her fork. I'm anal about eating (and sharing dessert) and simply wanted to keep it "nice"...but she interpreted this as me criticizing how much she ate. Uh, crap. About an hour later, a lot of crying, and me feeling like a dick, we resolved it!
- Gilmore Girls on the couch. :-p

Solid day.
