Weather: high 50s, HUMID
Comments:
Weird night: had some post-game beers (SEVERAL Ninkasi taps) at Two Friends, but then crashed at 8PM. Slept til midnight, then up for an hour reading, then sleeping again til probably 7 or 8. Hung out, then left for my warm-up run around 10.
Did basically the same loop as yesterday but backwards: Fairmount to campus, back on the PRE trail. Met Matt at home and we did the race sim.
With him on his bike carrying fuel, we started at the far east end of the bike trail and started from there. That first mile felt REALLY SMOOTH; the trail was pretty flat/straight. A 1/4mi in I took a clif shot and water. STILL not easy.
First mile 5:44, felt like NOTHING.
Did 1min easy jog/stand rest between reps. Then 2nd mile on the rolling, annoying section of trail through the Whilamut field. Took Gatorade on this rep. This mile went all the way to the Autzen Bridge. 5:44 again.
Last mile I doubled back, taking more Gatorade. 5:47. Kind of annoying that the last one was slower, but that damn section made it very tough to get into a rhythm. NOT a good place to do tempo.
Overall I'm pleased with the workout; however, I had NASTY SIJ pain afterwards. SUCKS! Turns out (as I'd find out Monday) that I'm doing my stupid L lurch again, which is locking up the L joint and overstressing the R one. SO annoying. Always something to think about, stride-wise.
Ran in the Zoom Marathoners. Pretty comfortable. Still undecided for next Sunday.
